The projects for preparing a new edition of The Light of Images
Foundation are already under way, and last March Mr. Roc Gregori
i Aznar, Undersecretary of Tourism and Ms. Carmina Nacher,
Undersecretary of the Autonomous Authority Ministry for Culture
and Education, were at Alicante's Introturística fair
to present the new stand for The Light of Images, which will
have the city of Orihuela as its venue from January 2003.
Notes on the new exhibition:
THE LIGHT OF IMAGES OF ORIHUELA
The
promotion work for The Light of Images of Orihuela goes on
with its philosophy of conveying the essence of the exhibition
through the reproduction of some of its most significant settings,
through simple harmoniously-combined items which define the
spirit of the Orihuela exhibition. If the stand of the Segorbe
exhibition was characterised by a more enclosed, intimate
and sober design, the promotional image of Orihuela's Light
of Images identifies the city as an open space, sparkling
in the light of the sun and the Mediterranean.
The stand represents a renaissance cloister. The arcades evoke
the cloister of Santo Domingo, emblem of the city. The most
outstanding part is doubtlessly the bell tower, inspired in
the gothic tower of the church of Santas Justa y Rufina, which
speaks for the spectacular nature of the five architectural
settings to house the exhibition: the church of Santiago,
church of Santas Justa y Rufina, convent of Santo Domingo,
Bishops' Palace and El Salvador cathedral. The floor, built
with the most innovative materials, portrays the paving of
large stone slabs and brings to mind the cloister of Santo
Domingo. Furthermore, as an example of the fixed items that
can be seen at the exhibition, the stand reproduces an image
of the altarpiece entitled "The Holy Family with two
Saints", a work by Antonio Villanueva which is kept in
San Juan de Alicante. One can also see images of details of
items from the exhibition. A video will give an idea of the
different exhibition venues in images.
The stand is characterised by its adaptability to the different
spaces, providing numerous alternatives for setting up the
items and transporting these easily. The stand consists of
fixed panels, adapting to the exhibition requirements, and
of decorative elements. The predominant material is wood,
ideal through being durable and light. The prevalent tones
in the stand are sand and maroon. The first, associated with
Mediterranean luminosity; the second, similar to the corporate
colour of The Light of Images. The versatility of the promotional
design of The Light of Images of Orihuela is reflected at
Alicante's Intraturística Fair, at which the conditions
of the premises have meant the exhibition's stand has had
to adapt to the spaces available.
The presence of The Light of Images of Orihuela at Alicante
tourism fair means the start of a tourist promotion work of
the sacred art exhibition which will be got under way early
next year in Orihuela, chief city of the Vega Baja, and which
will cover the artistic expressions in the Orihuela-Alicante
diocese. The Valencian Community Light of Images Foundation
will participate in the most important national tourism trade
fairs to promote the Orihuela event. The stand of The Light
of Images in Orihuela will be exhibited at national tourist
events such as the ones in Barcelona, Bilbao, Saragossa or
FITUR, as well as in the main tourist trade fairs in the Valencian
community.
