Valencia's Minister for Culture and Education, Manuel Tarancón,
who presided this morning over the act celebrating the presence
of visitor number 100,000 to The Light of Images, pointed
out that "such a flow of visitors vouches for the exhibition's
success. This is a figure that we hoped to attain, a pleasing
round figure for a highly successful exhibition".
A group of first year primary school pupils from CP Herrero
of Castellón were visit number 100,000 to the exhibition,
which covers and discovers the history of Segorbe-Castellón
diocese through diverse artistic expressions: architecture,
painting, sculpture, precious metalwork and fabrics.
The Culture and Education Minister gave them material edited
by The Light of Images on the occasion of the event for the
school library, such as the catalogues of the exhibitions
in Segorbe and Valencia, the CD with the music of Segorbe
Cathedral, the book of musical scores, the book entitled "The
enlightened renovation of Segorbe Cathedral: from Bishop Alonso
Cano to architect Vicente Gascó", or the videos
on The Light of Images in Segorbe and the history of the diocese.
Minister Tarancón also gave the students from the group
school material prepared by The Light of Images such as puzzles,
boxes of crayons and notebooks, as well as T-shirts, pins,
cups and confectionery, prepared by the craftsmen of Alto
Palancia county.
Further extension of the exhibition's run
In respect of the extension of the extra time allowed the
exhibition, which will stay open until next 26th May, the
minister said that "only the Board of the Foundation
is competent to decide if this is extended. At a coming meeting
they will look into the possibilities and options available
depending on the demand and on questions such as extending
the loans and insurance, since an event like The Light of
Images requires the most distinguished image".
