The Light of Images puts the artistic heritage of Segorbe diocese on show at FITUR

The Valencian Community Light of Images Foundation is to participate at the International Tourism Fair (FITUR), which will be opened next Wednesday 30th January, with a stand on the exhibition entitled "The Light of Images of Segorbe: unknown, admirable".".

The stand reproduces the dome of Segorbe Cathedral, with the frescos painted by Valencian painter Luís Planes and Manuel Camarón. There is also a video about the work done for restoration of the Cathedral, the church of San Joaquín y Santa Ana and the temple of San Martín convent. The film shows the work done for recovery of the buildings and the items shown at the exhibition. At the stand catalogues of the exhibition, posters, information brochures, a wide variety of the craftsman-products from Alto Palancia and different promotional products for The Light of Images will all be available for the visitor.

With its presence at FITUR, The Light of Images consolidates and culminates the promotion work that the foundation, promoted by the Valencian Culture and Education Ministry, is doing for recovery and publicity of the Valencian artistic historical heritage. This promotion campaign started precisely at the last edition of FITUR, at which Valencian Minister of Culture and Education, Manuel Tarancón, presented the basic lines of the project for the Segorbe exhibition, the second act of the foundation. The exhibition's stand has shown the contents displayed, recovering the art of the Segorbe-Castellón diocese at tourist events held in Barcelona, Bilbao, Saragossa or London.

The Light of Images has already started the work for preparing the buildings in Orihuela to act as venues for the third edition of The Light of Images, intended for 2003. The Orihuela exhibition, which will recover the artistic heritage of the Alicante diocese, will involve six exhibition spaces: the church of Santiago, church of Santas Justa y Rufina, El Salvador Cathedral, church of Santo Domingo convent and the Bishops' palace. The foundation will also invest 323 million pesetas in the restoration of San Agustín temple, which will be prepared for worship.
