The Light of Images of Segorbe is reproducing the exhibition's
educational workshop, attended by over 5,000 schoolchildren,
at Expojove. The stand of the sacred art exhibition has been
adapted for the children's fair with Christmas decorations.
The Light of Images is participating at the fair with the
altarpiece workshop. The exhibition stand is distributed in
three areas, all of these intended for children's participation.
In the first space, with a capacity for 20 and presided over
by the image of the Saint Luke Altarpiece, the children are
first given a theoretical explanation of the composition,
structure, layout or meaning of an altarpiece. Then they are
turned into painters to compose an altarpiece with motifs
inspired in their personal relations. The children also fit
together different jigsaw puzzles on compositions at the exhibition.
The second feature, also with a capacity for 20, consists
of a stage with panels reproducing the "Adoration of
the Magi" scene, one of the panels in the Macip altarpiece.
A monitor explains the meaning of the panel and seven children
are dressed up to reproduce the scene as a living Nativity
scene. The stand is rounded off by a sequence of panels which
narrate a tale on the inspiration of painters. This story
is developed at the Segorbe educational workshop storyteller's
activity.
Through these exercises the educational workshop facilitates
the children's psychomotor development and at the same time
assists in the learning process by means of participation.
The educational workshop is one of the most highly successful
events at The Light of Images of Segorbe exhibition and is
also a big hit at Expojove.
To reward the children's participation, The Light of Images
has arranged two competitions a day for each of the scenarios,
at which the prize winners are given T-shirts, puzzles or
tickets for the exhibition. There is also an information point
at the stand about the sacred art exhibition, with brochures,
catalogues and contact telephones for visiting the event.
